Internship description

Gary Farrell Winery is one of the Russian River Valley’s preeminent producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. With a strong focus on quality and attention to detail, the state-of-the-art facility has earned a reputation for the production of small lot, ultra-premium wines. We provide an educational, collaborative working environment, and the hillside winery enjoys stunning views of the Russian River Valley below.

We are currently seeking Harvest Interns (cellar, lab, vineyard) to join our team for the 2023 harvest season. As a harvest cellar intern, you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of crush activities while learning from a highly motivated and dynamic production team.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Fruit sorting/processing
- Grape sampling
- Lab analysis (training provided)
- Sanitation of processing/cellar equipment
- Monitoring fermentations (Brix, Temp)
- Punch downs and pump overs
- Steam cleaning barrels
- Racking tanks
- Filling barrels
- Additions to juice and must
- Assist with draining and pressing
- Forklift driving (training provided)
- Wine tasting/sensory analysis
- All other harvest related duties as required

Prior harvest experience is desired but not essential. Candidates should have good communication skills, be reliable, punctual, and be prepared to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, day or night shift, and holidays.

All candidates will need to be fit and capable of working long hours, lift weights up to 50lbs, and endure extended periods of time walking, standing and climbing ladders. All safety protocols must be adhered to while employed by Gary Farrell Winery.

This is a paid internship (hourly DOE). Lunch is often provided during fruit processing days – drinks and snacks are always available.

The period of employment will begin August 1st and will continue through October or later depending upon the vintage.

Compensation this position is : hourly, $20/hr +
