Description:
The Community Connector connects FamilyWorks’ participants to services that will help stabilize their lives. They will perform a needs assessment, and refer, apply, and enroll individuals during onsite food bank programs, virtual settings, and at other locations in various benefits, programs, and resources. The Connector will learn and enhance skills that promote anti-racism and cultural competency. The Connector will be skilled at fostering community partnerships for the benefit of FamilyWorks’ participants. The Connector will also participate in ongoing training that helps the person in this role stay updated on changes in benefits eligibility, process, and other tools. Looking for an enthusiastic professional who is organized and capable of building strong and positive relationships within the agency and in the community. This position is grant-funded through the City of Seattle Human Services Department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals who utilize FamilyWorks’ programs to access referral and application processes for service or benefit programs such as Apple Health, SNAP, childcare, utility discount, locally available financial assistance, rental assistance, employment, and other programs.
- Work with volunteers and staff to conduct outreach for Community Connector services.
- Collect and track data on participant service access and enrollment rates.
- Receive ongoing training regarding social service programs and best practices.
- Foster partnerships and connections with other organizations to meet peoples’ needs.
- Participate in staff, community connector, and city meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Be culturally and linguistically competent for priority populations being served. Spanish-speaking preferred.
- Have experience working with individuals and families who face language barriers.
- Have a proven record of working with marginalized populations.
- Possess and/or be willing to acquire engagement skills such as active and empathic listening, responsiveness, de-escalation, and trauma-informed care.
- Be organized, have coordination skills, and pay attention to detail.
- Have extensive knowledge of available social services.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Psychology, Education, or related field; or 4 years’ experience providing human services to a diverse community; or a combination of education and/or training and/or work experience which provides the ability to perform the work of the Community Connector.
- Ability to maintain focus in a complex environment.
- Is able to work in different settings and is highly flexible.
- Comfortable working in a shared workspace
- Microsoft Office and basic computer skills required.
- Must have access to reliable transportation throughout North Seattle.

Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
