Job description
Overview Agmenity designs and operates small-scale, sustainable farms that are fully integrated into a development's footprint and geared to connecting residents and the broader community with local food. At times referred to as agrihoods, these agricultural amenities serve as a powerful community resource where residents can access fresh local produce in addition to participating in various educational programs, events and other farm happenings.
Our Farm Educators play an integral role in the day-to-day production needs related to a year-round, diversified vegetable operation, and help create a welcoming and positive environment that engages and inspires the community through beautiful, nutrient dense vegetables.

This is a full-time, year-round, and salaried position ($43,000 - $48,000) with an elastic Paid Time Off policy (15 days), monthly $250 Health Benefit, and other benefits related to produce/eggs/provisions and professional development.
Of note, our current opening is at one of our Houston-area farms but we will have upcoming opportunities (including Lead Farm Manager) at a brand new Houston farm as well as a couple of new Florida projects.
Additional Details
As part of the skilled and dynamic 4-person team running a community based agricultural amenity, your responsibility will be to help support the production and sales of produce, as well as community interactions with the farm. Farm Educators will spend much of their day out in the fields, but will also be required to complete duties in the office. This position will be involved in the holistic operations of the amenity at which they work, but will have a strong focus on year-round certified organic vegetable production and the potential to help manage the small-scale weekly Farmers Market (10 - 20 vendors).
This position requires significant public facing experiences through our tours, classes, farmers market and other special events.
Duties may include (due to the nature of year-round farming this is not an exhaustive list, but should serve as a helpful baseline):

Coordinating with other Farm Educators to ensure successful growth, harvest and sales of crops

Planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, tending chickens (20 laying hens) & goats (4 mature females), working with small equipment, etc

Maintaining a disciplined and well-paced work environment

Ensuring premium quality of all produce leaving the farm

Ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all visitors to the farm

Maintaining sanitary, safe and organized work and storage areas
Farm Educators will work a flexible schedule depending on season and weather but will average around 45 hours a week. Farm Educators will receive two consecutive days off but due to the community focus of the farm weekend (Saturday- Sunday) work will regularly be required.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $35,568* - $50,000
