Job description Marx Companies, for our West Coast office located in Lower Queen Anne (Seattle), is looking for an ambitious, self-starting, multitalented web designer with excellent graphic design skills to join our small team marketing team. Our team consists of 5 individuals, including a Project Manager, Copywriter, Graphic Designer, and Marketing Assistant.

As a Web Designer, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing and user-friendly websites, as well as maintaining and optimizing existing sites. In addition to your design and coding expertise, you should have a solid understanding of WordPress sites, eCommerce platforms (bonus for NetSuite), Google Search Console, Google Analytics, GoDaddy, basic SEO principles, and UX best practices.

This position primarily focuses on web design; however, it offers exciting lifestyle aspects that extend beyond traditional design work. At Marx Companies, we’re frequently in our test kitchen, offering opportunities for photography and videography during our kitchen shoots. You'll have the chance to work with food on a regular basis, gaining valuable experience and insights into the culinary world. Responsibilities
  • Design and develop visually stunning and responsive websites that align with our brand identity.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling visual assets, including landing pages, banners, icons, and infographics.
  • Maintain and update our 11 existing websites, ensuring they remain functional and up to date.
  • Optimize websites for search engines and implement basic SEO strategies to improve organic rankings.
  • Monitor and analyze website performance using Google Analytics, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with PM to understand goals and objectives, translating them into engaging website designs.
  • Manage domain registrations and website hosting using GoDaddy and other relevant platforms.
  • Ensure websites are user-friendly and provide a seamless user experience (UX) across different devices and browsers.
  • Stay up to date with the latest web design trends, tools, and technologies, and apply them to enhance our design capabilities.
Requirements
  • Ability to commute to Lower Queen Anne, Seattle M-F.
  • Bootstrap 3 and responsive design.
  • HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Jquery, & Javascirpt.
  • Backbone.js or similar front-end framework (i.e. React).
  • Experience with version control (Git).
  • Experience with Gulp.
  • Experience with a text editor.
  • A solid grasp of core front-end technologies.
  • Experience working on CMS driven websites.
  • Proven work experience as a Web Designer, showcasing a strong portfolio of visually appealing and functional websites.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively cross functionally with other teams (PM, Design, Copywriting).
  • Familiarity with Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, and Google Analytics, with the ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations.
  • Solid understanding of basic SEO principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in domain registration and website hosting using GoDaddy or similar platforms.
  • Excellent understanding of user experience (UX) design principles and ability to create intuitive and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
  • Full knowledge of Adobe Suite. In particular: Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign in a PC environment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with eCommerce platforms, specifically NetSuite, to design and optimize online stores.
  • Experience with Bitbucket.
  • Inspired by the power of AI.
  • An eagerness to learn what you don’t already know.
Bonus Points
  • Major bonus points if you have worked with NetSuite.
  • Working knowledge in handling professional camera gear & photography principles.
  • Experience in food styling, photography, and photo editing.
  • Hand drawn illustration ability in various styles.
