Leña (which translates to firewood) is located in Cleveland, Mississippi, USA — the heart of the Mississippi Delta. We make our dough from scratch and bring it to life through traditional proofing practices. Our pizza is inspired by pizzaiolos of Naples, Italy, and we strive for memorable flavor combinations that are enhanced by our wood-fired brick oven. We also offer handcrafted bagels made from scratch and finished off in our brick oven — really bringing out unique flavors and textures.

We're located halfway between Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS, just off the historic Highway 61 — traveled by legendary bluesmen/blueswomen. We offer products unlike anywhere else in the region.

Pizza Cook:

Summary of Position:

Provide friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional experience for all of our guests. Cook and prepare a variety of food products including pizza and bagel dough, vegetables, sauces, and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complete opening and closing checklists.
• Prepare a variety of cold meats, vegetables and other food items for cooking in a variety of other kitchen equipment.
• Understand and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and rules, policies and procedures.
• Handle, store and rotate all products properly.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work and service area including tables, shelves, walls, oven, and refrigeration equipment. 
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
• Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement. 
• Promptly report equipment and food quality problems to the Manager.
• Inform manager-on-duty immediately of product shortages.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty.

Qualifications:

• Work experience as a pizza cook or similar role in a restaurant.
• Hands-on experience with preparing and baking pizza doughs.
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment and brick or stone oven.
• Understanding of food hygiene.
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• Have exceptional grooming and hygiene habits.
• Good time-management skills.
• Possess and express team spirit.
• Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and evenings.
