Company description mosquito supper club is located in new orleans, louisiana. our restaurant was created to celebrate the bounty of shrimpers, oyster fishermen, crabbers, and farmers that define our cuisine. we offer a communal multi-course tasting menu; a culinary story filled with history and traditions, as well as a nod to the evolution of bayou cuisine. our menu is reflexive of the building blocks that define our cuisine, our local farmers and fishermen. supper is a culinary glimpse into growing up on the waters and bayous of louisiana. our menu ebbs and flows seasonally. 

mosquito supper club has been operating for 9 years as a pre-paid restaurant. our philosophy is to be a model for sustainability in both the food we procure and the business model we’ve created. we charge guests what we believe is a fair price so we can offer fair wages to our employees, buy the best possible ingredients and operate sustainably as a small business -- everything from composting our food scraps and recycling, to only operating 4 days a week so we don’t burn out. we only seat a handful of people in one seating each night by choice. we take holidays off. all of these things figure into the price of a reservation with us, the ability to pay a person fairly, to offer health insurance and to survive as a small business. 

this is the ideal restaurant for folks who have worked in the industry and want to shatter the norm, have a work-life balance, and enjoy the highs of making folks happy without the stress of a toxic environment. we are a small team. we support each other in order to provide an extraordinary experience without sacrificing ourselves. 
Job description We are looking for a sommelier with management experience to join our small team. Ideally this person has extensive wine knowledge and fine dining experience and can help guide wine sales, while also assisting the GM with managing FOH staff. Our wine menu focuses on natural and organic producers, and female winemakers as often as possible. 

This person would be responsible for meeting with wine reps, selecting and ordering wines for our menu and updating menus weekly. This person would also be responsible for creating a wine pairing to accompany each month's seasonal menu. Additionally, this role would require staff education in the form of tasting notes and guidance for FOH staff (5 people total).

Service hours are Thursday - Sunday evenings and we have a flexible admin work day on Wednesdays, for tastings/ordering/menu design. We are off on Mondays and Tuesdays, holidays throughout the year, and the month of August.

We are looking for someone who is a team player, self starter and willing to do it all. We have a FOH team of 5 people and a total team of 12. We operate in a 100+ yr old house.
