King David Tacos is a CPG / Hospitality hybrid food company, serving a regional breakfast food that is simple, but requires care and diligence.

We operate out of our 4000 sf production facility in Prospect Heights. The menu is straightforward but requires great attention to detail. We produce our ingredients and menu items each day and then package the breakfast tacos for grab-and-go. Our business has three arms: Retail (brick & mortar and carts), Wholesale ( daily distribution to coffee shops / cafes), and Catering.

We are looking for a dedicated, reliable, experienced, and energetic person to fill the newly created role of Product Operations Coordinator.  We're looking for a leader and a problem-solver, who will help us with scalability and consistency as we expand regionally and nationally.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

This newly created role will report to the Director of Operations and work in concert with the Production, Prep and Retail teams.  This is a full time salaried exempt position that will require working at least 1 weekend day and shifts that will start between 4am and 6am, working between 8 and 10 hours per shift

 

There are three prongs to this role: (1) Food Handling &  Quality Control, (2) LogisticsAdministration and (3) Customer Service.  The ideal candidate would be someone that is looking to transition from a regular kitchen production role, into one that involves logistics, quality control, food safety and customer interaction. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, while at the same time being someone that works well with teams across multiple platforms. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, who is extremely organized and can multitask well. 

 

FOOD HANDLING & QUALITY CONTROL 

This part of the role will require a 4am-12pm shift 2-3 days/week and will take up the first 3-4 hours of the shift

  • Rethermalizing product before shipping 2-3 days per week
  • Visit sites of operation on a regular schedule  (KDT Retail (including Carts), Retail Partners, etc), for general presence and QC checks
  • Maintain and organize all Food Safety Plan documents and GMP logs
  • Work with the Kitchen Manager and the Production team to ensure QC protocol is being followed and execute corrective action when needed

 

LOGISTICS ADMINISTRATION

This part of the role will regularly require a 5am-1pm or 6am-2pm shift 2-3 days/week (balanced with the Food Handling shift). Many of these duties are done in a support / coverage capacity and under the direction of the Logistics Manager.

  • Compile and organize the next day’s order schedule and instructions, distribute via email each day on duty 
  • Route the next day’s delivery schedule with a combination of software and staff planning
  • Oversee AM Packaging and Delivery Operations each day on duty, ensuring the pack out runs smoothly and to standard
  • Ensure deliveries leave the kitchen and arrive to their final destination on time (via delivery software monitoring)

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

This part of the role will round out each shift and be part of your daily tasks. 

  • Create training materials for new Retail Partners and manage their marketing materials 
  • Communicate with customers and staff about KDT products and services via order inquiries through email and phone
  • Manage relationships with vendors, purveyors, and Retail Partners, communicating regarding order questions, resolving any issues, making order updates, and reconciling orders with Accounting when needed
  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to continuously improve the customer experience and operational efficiency
  • Wholesale and Catering customer order entry 

 

GENERAL SUPPORT

  • Facilitate delivery vehicle repairs and maintenance when necessary
  • Provide on-site management at events when necessary
  • Occasional delivery driving when needed (e.g. driver unavailable) 
 

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in a production kitchen or bakery
  • New York City Food Handler’s License (or willing to obtain)
  • Valid Drivers License (Occasional delivery driving when needed)
  • HACCP or PCQI Training not required but a major plus
  • Computer savvy. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, G-Suite required. ERP and routing software experience is a plus. 
  • Early-riser: Timeliness and the early start time require lifestyle management
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with experience applying these skills in other jobs
  • Self-motivated, problem-solver and team player with a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent work ethic—ability to stay organized, calm and focused under all circumstances
  • Commitment to the company and upholding the standards of the brand
  • Ability to reach, bend, squat and frequently move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time

Salary:

  • This is a full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position averaging 45 hours per week. Salary range is $60,000- $65,000 depending on experience.
