POSITION DESCRIPTION Georgia Organics is seeking a part-time Southern Regional Network Facilitator to work remotely and, at times, in our Atlanta office over the next 12 months. This position provides important outreach to create a new Southern Regional Network that will serve as advisors in organizing the 2025 Southern Organic & Regenerative Farming Conference, hosted by Georgia Organics.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Southern Region Network Facilitator will report to the President & CEO and work closely with the Events Manager to network partners and stakeholders in a 13-state region. The Network will be comprised of a smaller Steering Committee of key leaders from partnering organizations who participate in monthly or bimonthly meetings to coordinate a regional conference that is responsive and relevant to the needs of Southern sustainable farmers and local food systems champions. The coordinator’s duties and responsibilities will include:
Southeast Network Facilitation • Facilitate a Network of partners and organizations throughout the Southeast dedicated to advancing sustainable, organic and regenerative agriculture, including individuals and groups representing BIPOC farmers.
• Leverage existing networks within states and throughout the region to be engaged in conference development and outreach.
• Recruit and communicate regularly with Network Partners to provide input and feedback opportunities on plans and content development for the regional conference.
• Identify and recruit key partners or organizations who will serve as the lead ambassadors for
their respective state on a Steering Committee to provide more strategic and tactical support in developing the regional conference.
• Coordinate compensation for Steering Committee members and track related project expenses. Meeting Coordination & Facilitation
• Establish a calendar schedule for monthly or bi-monthly meetings with the Steering Committee leading up to the 2025 conference and track and maximize participation.
• Develop agendas for Steering Committee meetings and key decisions to be made to advance the development of a dynamic regional conference.
• Support facilitation of monthly or bi-monthly virtual meetings and provide follow-up on action items and meeting minutes.
• Work closely with Georgia Organics events manager to align content development with conference logistics and venue specs.
Event Coordination & Marketing
• Help shape the development of the Southern conference content by identifying key themes, activities, educational tracks, workshop content, keynote speakers and tours to be offered with the Steering Committee and Network Partners input.
• Work with the Steering Committee and Network to identify and recruit regional and/or national speakers.
• Coordinate a scholarship outreach and application process to ensure opportunities for limited resource farmers to attend from all Southern states.
• Build excitement throughout the region by marketing the event with promotional outreach through the Network and beyond.
• Capitalize on regional funding prospects by identifying potential conference sponsors and grant opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS MUST be very organized, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
• Required skills: group facilitation, diplomacy, problem-solving, project management, attention to detail, and interpersonal communications
• Prior event and/or conference planning experience
• Experience organizing coalitions of diverse stakeholders
• Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• A team mindset to coordinate priorities in alignment with others
• Must have interest or experience in the food, farming, and/or environmental spaces
• Flexibility, a sense of humor, and a commitment to the mission of Georgia Organics
COMPENSATION: The Southern Region Network Facilitator is a 12-month, part-time employee position, beginning in
June 2023, working 20 hours a week, with potential for renewal. The compensation rate is
$40-50/hour and is paid twice monthly. As a part-time employee of Georgia Organics, you will not be
eligible for organization-sponsored benefits or paid vacation.
