Housed in a building that once served as a classic restoration shop, 501 Union has provided a unique backdrop for stylish weddings, corporate events, and photo shoots since 2013.

Job Description: The Bar Manager is responsible for ensuring a hospitality-driven culture and guest experience is provided during event operations. The Bar Manager will oversee the venue's bar program, front-of-house event team members, and ensure maintenance of facility equipment. The Bar Manager must possess strong leadership skills, attention to detail, passion for hospitality, and enthusiasm for building a positive and enthusiastic team environment. This position will report directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.
Responsibilities (these are not all-inclusive of the role):
- Manage the business aspect of the bar program including supplier relationships & contracts, inventory and procurement of necessary bar supplies, and detailed maintenance and cleanliness of all areas & associated equipment
- Oversee beverage program and contributes to seasonal updates
- Active collaboration and communication with the sales team members regarding bar program selections, client tastings, and event details
- Responsible for the effective management of event team members including staff recruitment, training, supervision, scheduling, invoicing, continued development, and enforcement of company policies
- Establish standards for guest experience and personnel performance to provide excellent customer service
- Onsite oversight of events and facilities including overseeing emergency repairs or maintenance needs
- Support and attend promotional & sales events including monthly Open Houses
- Remain current and compliant with the correct HR practices and policies, hold employees accountable to all standards and practices, evaluate and/or follow disciplinary procedures when necessary
- Ensure DOL/Health Department compliance as it pertains to operations
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned per business needs

Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
- 3+ years experience in restaurants, hospitality, and/or events with strong bartending/ bar management experience required
- Experience in managing a combination of seasonal and contractor staff
- Organization and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) and collaboration skills with a demonstrated high degree of emotional intelligence to manage and lead a team of diverse individuals
- Must promote and support a culture of respect, inclusiveness, and positive employee experience
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Proficiency in GoogleWorkspace & Canva for menus, scheduling, and electronic communication purposes
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10 – 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds on a regular (or occasional basis).
- Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and climb steps regularly.
THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION (40 hours per week): This full-time position schedule will be Thursday - Monday, with some flexibility required based on the venue's event schedule. This role requires weekend availability and a commitment to working weekend events (Friday - Sunday) in addition to on-site commitments on Thursday and Monday. Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
