Cannabis Farmer

Description: This is a great entry level opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a building year for our farm. We are looking to add a couple of workers for our outdoor and greenhouse growing season. We are a state licensed organic cannabis farm located 10 minutes from the city Hudson, NY. We are looking for candidates who are willing to work (32 - 40 hr / week). This is a seasonal position (end of July to mid/end of November) with consideration for working year-round upon the closure of our harvest and pending and positive mutual review.

Consistency, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude are a must when working on our farm. We are constantly learning ourselves, and this industry can prove chaotic at times, so we are looking for stable hands to aid in both farm work and the building of our brand. Being comfortable with farm equipment, plant care and long hours on your feet are a requirement. We prefer candidates that have at least one year of agriculture experience. We may be willing to work with your schedule if we can have a few days a week to work. Experience with cannabis/hemp is not a requirement.

Attributes:

• 1 - 3 years of agricultural / horticultural experience; not a requirement but a strong recommendation
• A willingness and openness to learning organic cannabis practices
• Reliable transportation and a consistent strong work ethic
• Able to at least lift 50 pounds and work long hours on your feet
• Positive attitude
• Ability to work well independently and harmoniously with team members
• Detail oriented focus especially when it comes to plant shaping and scouting for pest symptoms
• Good communication skills
• A love for plants and cultivation

Possible duties include but not limited to (throughout the season):

• Cleaning and organizing our processing spaces
• Watering and monitoring greenhouse environmentals
• Possible overtime and weekend cover associated with harvest
• Following recipes for our feedings/watering
  • Running irrigation and mixing OMRI nutrients
  • Balancing PH with OMRI organic controls
• Cleaning irrigation tanks
• Mowing, although minimal
• Pest scouting
• Application of OMRI-Listed pesticides with proper PPE
• Pruning leaves
• Aid in driving t-stakes and laying trellising
• Tending to the shape and structure of the plant, using the trellising as a screen of green
• Worker in Harvest
  • Working in aspects of the harvest (cutting plants, hanging, bucking, trimming)
  • Tending to harvest room environmentals
  • Communicating any issues or problems with farm’s infrastructure or personnel to Co-Directors

Dates: Work can start immediately and end around the beginning of November. Possible extension as part-time farm hand for our off season.

Deadline: Position open until filled.

Pay Rate: Entry level position - starting at $19.50 - $21.50 per hour - depending upon experience.

Work Hours: Preference to full time work (32 - 40 per week), and consideration of part time hours depending on experience.
