Caney Fork Farms is a regenerative farm located in Carthage, TN (an hour east of Nashville). The farm raises organic vegetables and flowers on a ¾- acre market garden and five acres of tractor-based fields, produces chestnuts from 35 acres of silvopasture orchard, grazes grass-finished cows and sheep and pasture-raised pigs on over 350 acres of pasture. Products are sold primarily through a year-round CSA and Nashville restaurants. The farm is also collaborating with a number of researchers to track the ecological effects of our farming practices, with a large focus on carbon sequestration.

Job description

Caney Fork Farms is seeking full-time crew members for the vegetable and agroforestry team to help raise a diverse mix of vegetables, flowers, fruits and nuts. Crew members will report to the Agroecology Manager and assist in all aspects of crop production: seeding, transplanting, weed and pest management, harvest and post-harvest, equipment use and maintenance, etc.

We’re looking for people who are excited about regenerative farming and will bring creativity and curiosity to the job - some farm experience is preferred but not essential. Organic farming is hard work and team members should be prepared to work outside in all weather, and to meet high standards of efficiency and consistency. All team members will be trained in ecological growing techniques and tools, including crop planning, soil care, tree care, tractor and equipment operation, various hand and power tools, chestnut harvesting, season extension and more, and will gain experience in handling CSA, farmers markets and wholesale orders.
