SlackTide Coffee Roasters is a small business located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. We have two locations in Marshfield and Hanover where we serve fresh, homemade ingredients for breakfast and lunch. We also have a commissary kitchen and roasters where we roast all of our coffee and bake donuts, biscuits, bread and other homemade baked goods.

Job description

Baristas at SlackTide Coffee Roasters are expected to gain a thorough and complete knowledge of the SlackTide philosophy and menu. Baristas are expected to have a strong work ethic and a desire to service all customers with excellent customer service and a focus on quality products.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Service customers effectively
• Learn and absorb full SlackTide Menu
• Fulfill orders at specific stations
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls
• Clean and sanitize areas
• Communicate effectively with staff members on shift
• Follow scheduling protocols and use proper communication with Shop Leads off shift when necessary
• Maintain consistency across products
• Follow company guidelines and Handbook
• Strive to continue to grow your skills
• Perform other related coffee shop duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation
• Exceptional listening and communication skills
• Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent customers
• Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to move up to 50 pounds at times
• Ability to move about the store to access different areas/stations; must be able to remain in a stationary position most of the time (i.e., standing, sitting, bending, etc.)
• Availability to work around peak hours, including afternoons, early mornings, weekends, and holidays when applicable

Specific Focus Areas:

1. Learn all specific roles within shops. This includes Food station, Bar station, and Point of Sale (POS) with an eye towards individual growth
2. Work directly with management to provide a positive experience to all SlackTide Customers
3. Work effectively with SlackTide team members with a positive attitude to foster a strong workplace culture
4. Fulfill orders efficiently while adhering to all product specifications with a focus on quality

The Barista position is the starting role at SlackTide. Baristas are expected to be focused on servicing customers to the best of their abilities. Baristas can look to Shop Leads or Lead Baristas for leadership or guidance during shifts.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
