Job Summary:
In this supervisory role, the Pastry Chef will lead the development and execution of our retail store pastry program and direct-to-consumer program. We are seeking an incredibly creative individual with meticulous attention to detail and a passion for collaboration to bring new and exciting sweet ideas to life.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and execute a creative and innovative pastry program for our retail store and direct-to-consumer program, collaborating closely with the R&D and operations teams to ensure optimal quality and efficiency, following established recipes and safety standards.
· Supervise and lead the pastry team, delegating tasks as necessary to ensure timely and professional order fulfillment.
· Manage inventory of ingredients and finished goods, working in coordination with procurement and café teams to order ingredients as needed.
· Work in a manufacturing environment with varying noise and temperature levels, including regular access to freezer areas due to our frozen dessert production.
· Demonstrate the ability to multitask calmly and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
· Adhere to all food safety and regulatory protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
· Train new pastry team members and foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
· Collaborate closely with the Cafe retail store, marketing, and customer service teams to bring product offerings to life.
Qualification Requirements:
· Demonstrate creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and a willingness to take risks in the field of pastry.
· Possess comprehensive knowledge of pastry techniques, including materials, methods, and equipment used in large-scale pastry preparation.
· Ability to plan, test, and modify formulas to meet various requirements.
· Strong teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a basic understanding of computers.
· Instruct team members in the department on proper food handling, production, and procedures.
· Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
· Must be available to work flexible hours, including various shifts and days (including some weekends).
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor's Degree and/or an Associate Culinary Degree, with a minimum of 3 years of pastry experience.
· Experience in leading a team.
· Sanitation Certification preferred.
