Job description

Amber Waves is seeking an enthusiastic full time & part-time associate to join our Produce team. Produce team members will fulfill back of house and front of house duties as needed, working in the market and/or in the wash station. This position reports to both Produce & Market managers. The ideal candidate should possess a high level of customer service, a positive attitude and a passion for produce.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a retail environment preferred but not required — we are great teachers!

  • Have knowledge of or interest in produce, cooking, food systems and/or local agriculture

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and be able to stand for long periods of time

  • Strong communication skills

  • Time management skills, understanding urgency and prioritization associated with task completion

  • Strong work ethic, organization skills and excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organize, clean, stage and maintain produce at each phase post harvest

  • Assist in creating and updating displays to rearrange, fill gaps, or make room for new items following FIFO (first in first out)

  • Update signage, ensuring proper display of each produce item

  • Maintain high level of customer service and ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers

  • Responsible for postharvest processing

  • Assist in the wash station as needed

  • Maintain a clean workspace in accordance with FSMA produce safety rules and COVID policies

  • Break-down and clean produce stations: sweep, disinfect etc.

  • Maintain organization and inventory in walk-in coolers

Work Schedule & Compensation:

  • Full-time 40 hrs/week

  • Part time 20-25 hrs/week

  • $15-$17/hr (depending on experience)

  • Start Date: Immediate start

  • Farm housing available
