Food Well Alliance (FWA) is a collaborative network of local leaders working together to build thriving community gardens, urban farms and orchards across metro Atlanta. FWA’s mission is to provide resources and support to local growers to connect and build healthier communities. Our vision is an equitable, local food ecosystem in which everyone can participate and benefit. 

FWA was founded in 2015 when Jim Kennedy, chair of Cox Enterprises, and Bill Bolling, founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, had an idea to build healthier communities by connecting and supporting members of our local food movement. Today, we support more than 300 gardens, farms and orchards in the Atlanta region.

Job description

The primary purpose of the Warehouse Manager is to manage and provide warehouse support services to Food Well Alliance and its various subtenants located at the warehouse at 970 Jefferson Street. This position will manage and direct warehouse space planning and utilization, ensure a safe and secure work environment, and lead the general day to day operations of the warehouse.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead warehouse management including:

    • Manage the day-to-day operations of the warehouse (storage, inventory management, safety, etc.)

    • Ensure regular preventive maintenance and repair of warehouse, mechanicals, grounds and equipment in coordination with building owner, Westside Future Fund. Items may include furnishings, HVAC, elevators, plumbing, electrical systems, and security systems within the warehouse

    • Manage process for tenants to request warehouse repairs or services and manage said process to ensure prompt, complete service (fix minor plumbing issues, assist with moving of items as needed, etc.) that meet customer needs

    • Communicate and collect feedback from tenants regarding effectiveness of warehouse management services

    • Manage process to vet and select potential subcontractors (e.g., security, custodial services, repairs, pest management, etc.) and to ensure prompt, cost effective service

    • Manage purchase of required equipment and ensure prompt, cost effective maintenance service

    • Assist with minor facility expansion or construction projects as required

    • Supervise all non-inventory/product recycling services

  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment:

    • Manage work practices to ensure safe warehouse operations (layout, storage requirements, machinery, housekeeping standards, etc.) 

    • Ensure all warehouse systems are in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.

    • Manage process for deploying security equipment and monitoring systems (building security systems, fire alarms, parking lot lighting, etc.) that protect personnel and property

    • Develop and maintain a supportive relationship with local security and law enforcement agencies 

    • Manage processes and procedures, in coordination with building owner as appropriate, to ensure all necessary permits, licenses, etc. required for a safe workplace are in place and current

  • Supervise facility space planning and utilization 

    • Establish standards and guidelines for efficient space utilization

    • Plan and monitor overall facility space utilization

    • Oversee training for tenants in proper space utilization

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in managing warehouse operations including space utilization, safety and security

  • Experience with developing and managing processes (repair requests, service requests, etc.) to ensure prompt and complete support

  • Excellent customer service skills and experience working with very diverse tenants

  • Basic understanding and experience with monitoring systems (fire, building security, etc.,)

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as necessary including participating in events and responding to emergencies

  • Good written and verbal communication skills 

  • Basic computer skills to utilize email and Google Suite

  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license (Driver's license required to fulfill job duties)

  • Ability to perform basic facility and equipment maintenance and minor repairs 

  • Recommended schedule is 7:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 - 5 year's experience in developing and managing warehouse operations that ensure maximum space utilization and a safe and secure workplace

  • Forklift certification is a plus

  • High school diploma or equivalent

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position works in a typical warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 40 pounds. Some local travel may be required. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Ability to work in varying temperatures, both indoors and outdoors.

COMPENSATION

The salary range is $50,000 - $60,000. Benefits are comprehensive and include medical insurance, life insurance, 3% employer-matched contributions toward a 401(k)-retirement plan and a generous paid-time-off policy.
