Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator

Reports To:     Food Bank manager

FLSA Status:   Full-time/Non-Exempt

Position Summary

The Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator works alongside our Food Bank team to run our free Mobile Food Pantry program and ensure that the needs of our food bank participants are met in a welcoming, safe, and respectful manner. Our Mobile Food Pantry program has grown over the past two years from three to 14 regular sites, and we are thrilled to be bringing on a second full-time Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator to advance our mission. This new position will join our Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator in spearheading operations and will work closely with community partner sites to bring essential resources out into the community. Responsibilities include tracking and planning the daily food menu, coordinating market-style distributions, and recording data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate efficient and quality food distribution at our Wallingford location and through our Mobile Food Pantry services.
  • Coordinate and carry out weekly schedules for Mobile Food Pantry services based on community needs.
  • Establish key relationships with community partners to provide holistic services.
  • Conduct outreach to potential Mobile Pantry participants and identify opportunities for new sites.
  • Assist with weekly menu planning and food purchasing decisions.
  • Work alongside volunteers and delegate tasks.
  • Receive and record vendor/donor deliveries.
  • Process incoming products, rotate stock, and monitor inventory levels.
  • Complete grocery rescue and other local pick-ups when needed.
  • Assist with data entry and monthly reports.
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and other meetings as required.
  • Respond to special circumstances presented by clients/volunteers (walk-ins, special needs, referrals, conflicts, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean, orderly facility that meets or exceeds sanitary and safety guidelines/regulations.

  • Represents FamilyWorks with professionalism, dignity, and respect when interacting with customers, staff, volunteers, and the community.
  • Satisfactory Driving record with no moving violations in the past three years.
  • Comfortable operating a truck (step van); some professional driving experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Will need to obtain a WA Food Worker card within four weeks after the hire date. The certification fee will be paid by FamilyWorks.
  • Strong preference for Spanish language skills.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential job functions.

  • The workplace is a warehouse-like setting, working extended periods on a cement floor.
  • Involves significant physical exertion on an everyday basis, including heavy lifting (50 lbs. or more)
  • Requires driving a step van.
  • A dynamic and fluid work environment requiring flexible thinking and decision-making.

HOURS AND COMPENSATION:

40 hours a week, $20-$23 hourly depending on experience.
