Gnarly Vines is a vibrant, adored neighborhood wine and spirits shop in Fort Greene, Brooklyn since 2007 with a devoted clientele.

We offer a considerably larger selection than a 'boutique' shop but we're much more approachable and selective than a huge superstore.

We have a strong emphasis on small production wines and spirits that are 'sustainable or stricter'. Yet we're not crusaders. We believe in the broad spectrum of wines and spirits from different regions and varietals, in different styles, that appeal to a wide range of tastes and budgets.

Job description

Seeking a responsible, bright, detail-oriented person to roll up their sleeves and contribute in all aspects of customer service for our vibrant neighborhood wine shop. The candidate must be personable, presentable, team-focused, communicate well and be motivated to provide the highest level of customer service possible. This is a very hands-on position.

Desired Qualifications

-Serious (or at least budding) interest in wines and spirits.

-Prior experience in a restaurant with a solid wine list, a retail shop or formal study (i.e. WSET certificate)

-Solid computer skills – Mac savvy with POS experience

-Must be able to commit to approx. 36-40 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

-Must be able to lift and carry a 40lb case of wine up and down stairs

Job Description

-Read, write, talk and geek out about wines and spirits!

-Make sure customer orders and deliveries are taken and handled properly

-Assist customers with wine choices and offer wine and food pairing advice

-Process in-store sales and phone and online orders

-Maintain stocking levels and appearance of store

-Contribute content for website and shelf-talkers

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
