At Driftaway, operations is a central and critical team. Operations is the process of getting the right coffee at the right time into the hands of the customer. This role has specific responsibility for the quality of each item shipped and efficiency with which production tasks are completed.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Assistant is responsible for packaging, grinding and shipping the product to our customers as well as assembling packing materials and maintaining the cleanliness of our roastery . This role enhances customer experience through a high quality product delivered with impeccable quality and works with Fulfillment Manager, Production Lead and other Production Assistants (peers) to ship products as efficiently as possible.
YOUR FOCUS
Take ownership of the order fulfillment tasks including:
- Fill and assemble orders
- Meet daily fulfillment and order shipment goals set by Fulfillment Manager and Production Lead.
- Setup and operation of automated packaging machinery.
- Be on time for shifts as per schedule
- Follow internal SOPs (standard operating procedures) for production tasks, work with Fulfillment manager and Production Lead to define these if needed.
- Assist with onboarding new production assistants for peak season and on an as-needed basis
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and food safety standards
- Prepare for production
- Prepare shipping labels, coffee labels, and other plans/reports, and troubleshoot any issues related to bags and orders.
- Follow daily production plan
- Escalate inventory level issues and risks for production materials and supplies.
- Collaborate with Fulfillment Manager and Production Lead to conduct root cause analysis and assist in resolving customer support issues.
- Assist with production inventory and supplies
- Assist with maintaining inventory accuracy, availability and visibility, through proper storage and organization practices, as well as periodic counting.
- Assist with upkeep of physical roastery to ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance as well as well-being of the team.
- Assist in identifying improvement opportunities and work to implement them.
- Tracking data to contribute to metrics and performance against production goals; help with identifying trends and anticipate issues.
- Continuously evaluating and improving production processes to ensure the safety and proper treatment of the product as well as accuracy and efficiency of picking and shipping orders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in a process-oriented warehouse/fulfillment operation or similar environment
- Experience working in production and knowledge of best practices in an assembly line environment
- We are fast moving, methodical and energetic! The pace is fast and things change a lot so we expect you to roll with the punches.
- Experience making, packing, and assembling a product with a strong focus on presentation and aesthetics.
- Communication skills: Clear, concise written and spoken English.
- Manage time effectively with limited supervision; well-organized and detail-oriented.
- Knowledge of best practices with respect to inventory handling and organization.
- Hours vary by person, production hours are set to be from 8am to 3pm every weekday (Monday to Friday).
- The ability to lift up to 65 lbs repeatedly and to work on your feet for the duration of your shift
ROLE TYPE
- Hourly paid - $18 an hour via W-2
- 5 days a week for the remainder of this year, adjusts based on demand in 2024
- Reports to Fulfillment Manager & Production Lead
- Yearly performance review and feedback process
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
