POSITION SUMMARY:
AARC is seeking a Member Engagement Manager to support the mobilization, alignment, and solidarity of its membership base. This new position is supervised by AARC’s Managing Director. The Member Engagement Manager will lead engagement and communications strategies that create the conditions for increased member-centered collaboration. Working in close partnership with AARC's Managing Director and membership-led governance bodies, this position will operate in line with AARC's commitments to accelerate movement work within the food justice space.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In collaboration with the Managing Director and newly established Membership Committee, develop and implement engagement and cross-collaborative communication strategies that align with the priorities and needs of its member organizations.
- Understand AARC’s positionality in animal agriculture reform to support the Membership Committee in creating membership pathways that diversify the collaborative's makeup, dismantle white supremacy, and make way for Black, Indigenous, and people of color leadership from frontline organizations. Support the clarification of membership processes, including recruitment and onboarding, that ensures accessibility, diversity, and deepened engagement.
- Manage AARC's newsletter, webinars, listservs, and other communications platforms to keep members informed of the collaborative's work, celebrate victories, promote working group and leadership opportunities, and provide access to resources.
- Support member uptake and use of narrative guides produced by the collaborative with a view toward narrative shift in public spaces and media.
- Maintain and enhance AARC's website and member portal, as well as introduce and/or optimize tools and resources, in order to create meaningful online spaces that promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, information management, and member connections.
- Facilitate the production of the Annual Membership Retreat, Leadership Retreat, and other in-person meetings, co-creating agendas and programming with the Managing Director, Membership Committee, and member-led working groups. In partnership with an external consultant, oversee the logistics for all events.
- Build 1:1 relationships with members to identify emerging trends and make connections between members doing similar or complementary work.
- Regularly attend the virtual meetings of the various committees, collecting input on and sharing agendas in advance, taking minutes, and ensuring accountability for follow-up action items. Attend 2-5 in-person meetings per year, including Annual Membership Retreat and networking opportunities.
- In collaboration with the Membership Committee, administer and analyze the results of annual surveys to gauge member experience and interests and identify opportunities to better support members' needs.
- Provide operations and administrative support as needed, including shared maintenance of organizational systems and implementation of protocols (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, Drupal), pulling data for grant reports, and providing basic IT support.

Experience at a grassroots advocacy or membership organization is a plus.
- An effective relationship and network builder who inspires trust and collaboration across diverse stakeholders. You are a natural facilitator and seek connections in order to foster the collective strength and wisdom of a group. You practice deep listening and work in partnership with diverse stakeholders to translate ideas into tangible actions and goals. You bring a consultative and collaborative approach to working with a variety of people and teams.
- A resourceful and tech-savvy doer. You possess a “get-it-done” attitude, with the ability to stay focused and manage multiple workstreams. You are proficient in commonly used tools for engagement, communications, advocacy, and collaboration (e.g., intranets, listservs, email newsletters, web content management, video conferencing.) You create or adapt systems and processes to improve day-to-day operations. Experience in graphic design, video production, photography, and/or other creative skills is a plus.
- A catalyst for racial, social, and economic equity and justice. You are grounded in environmental and social justice issues, including the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, ability, economic and ecological justice, and building power and centered those most impacted by these issues. You are self-reflective about your own growth and learning, relative privilege, and positional power and push others to examine their own.

- Experience as an organizer and/or an understanding of grassroots organizing or in facilitating the work of grassroots community organizations.

Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $70,000.00 - $90,000.00
