ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Kitchen Manager to oversee the culinary operations of our Babel Loft Bar & Tasting Room. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for all back-of-house human resources, managing and operating the day-to-day activities of the kitchen, ensuring the highest quality of food preparation and presentation, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and possess excellent leadership and culinary skills.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Food Preparation and Presentation: Oversee all aspects of food preparation, including recipe development, portion control, and plating. Ensure that all food items are prepared to high standards of quality and presentation, and that they meet customer expectations
- Menu Development: Collaborate with the bar management team to develop and update menus that align with the concept and customers
- Inventory Management: Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste. Implement effective inventory control measures to ensure optimal food costs and reduce unnecessary expenses.
- Staff Management: Supervise kitchen staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management. Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional development.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, enforcing proper food handling and storage procedures. Conduct regular inspections and train employees on food safety best practices.
- Cost Control: Monitor food and labor costs, identifying opportunities to minimize expenses without compromising quality. Implement efficient production methods, portion control measures, and waste reduction strategies. Work closely with the bar management team to optimize profitability.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with the management team, bartenders, and servers to ensure smooth kitchen operations and timely food delivery. Foster open communication and collaboration to enhance the overall dining experience for customers.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- An attention to detail with experience working in a customer focused, consumer centric environment
- Culinary Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a culinary role, with a strong background in food preparation, menu planning, and kitchen management. Experience in a bar or restaurant setting is highly desirable.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a kitchen team, including hiring, training, and performance management. Strong leadership, motivational, and organizational skills are essential.
- Culinary Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety standards, and industry best practices. Ability to develop creative and innovative menus that appeal to a diverse customer base.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality food and service consistently.
- Time Management: Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster a positive work environment and collaborate with the management team, staff, and customers.
- Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing circumstances, and handle pressure. Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
