Company description
We are a small, family farm in NE Indiana. We raise pigs, turkeys, and sheep on pasture and have a USDA inspected processing plant here on our farm. We manage about 240 acres of cool season pastures, woods, and planted forages that we graze our animals across.
Job description
We are looking to add a dedicated member to our team to allow our farm to progress and pursue new opportunities. We are a pastured livestock operation, so work will be performed outdoors year round. Daily duties will focus on the direct care of our sheep, pigs, and turkeys, including setting up and taking down temporary fence, grazing moves, feeding, sorting animals, maintaining waterlines and fence, and ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of our stock. This position will frequently work alone, but also alongside the owners and in small teams depending on the task at hand.
Hours will vary depending on the season, but frequently fall between 45-50 hours per week with flexibility on exact scheduling most days.
To be eligible for employment, candidates must:
- Have interest in and respect for soil health and regenerative agriculture principles
- Be self motivated – able to complete tasks and accomplish goals without constant supervision
- Have a track record of reliability
- Be able to work on their feet for the entirety of the shift, lift items in excess of 50lbs, and work around livestock and equipment safely
Common sense and a positive attitude reign supreme, but candidates with past agricultural, leadership, or heavy machinery experience and English/Spanish bilinguals will stand above the rest.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
