Job description
Who we’re looking for:
August Point Advisors is seeking a full-time Junior Consultant to join its team. The Junior Consultant will work closely alongside APA’s Managing Partners on the firm’s portfolio of projects, with a particular focus on Strategic Planning and Project Management engagements. With time, experience, and demonstrated reliability, the Junior Consultant will begin to take a lead role on certain projects. The majority of our projects will be in the NYC metro area though some may be outside of the city and require occasional travel. The ideal candidate for this position has a professional background working in the restaurant industry, has been on the opening team of a few F&B venues, has a creative mind for F&B concepts, understands the language and culture of hospitality-based operations, and has ample amounts of the all-around, figure-it-out generalist energy that’s unique to F&B people. For candidates who have that, we can teach the specifics.
What you will be involved in:
- Workshopping F&B concepts with clients to be exciting, viable, and commercially sustainable businesses
- Translating those ideas into detailed financial projections
- Building capital budgets for the development and construction of client projects
- Developing and managing project roadmaps and business plans for clients
- Liaising with relevant project stakeholders including architects, designers, kitchen equipment consultants, engineers and more
- Facilitating regular meetings with clients and project teams
- Participating in on-site meetings, progress check-ins, and other site-based work as projects require
- Ad hoc client advisory and internal projects
- Company administration and organizational tasks as required
What you know or know how to do:
- Knowledge of the restaurant landscape, restaurant operations, and restaurant people
- Dialogue with multiple stakeholders to evaluate and help develop F&B concepts
- Excellent project management, planning and organizational skills
- Strong MS Office skills with an emphasis in Excel and Teams
- Read and comment on financial projections and restaurant profit-and-loss statements
- Take accurate notes and follow-up with people assiduously on relevant tasks
- Excellent and adaptable interpersonal skills
Ideal Additional Skills:
- Formal Project Management training and/or fluency with Gantt charts, WBS and other PM tools
- Understanding of design, architecture, construction process terminology
- Ability to read and comment on architectural drawings
- Ability to build and analyze financial projection models for restaurant operations
Your Prior Experience:
- 5+ years in restaurant operations, ideally with a focus on new store development, or equivalent experience in design or construction project management with a focus on food & beverage
- BA/BS in hospitality management, business or other related area of study
Compensation:
$75,000 range, depending on prior experience in relevant positions
