Frydek Heritage Farm is a local farm specializing in pasture-raised meat, eggs and vegetables. The farm is located just outside of Houston in Sealy, TX. We raise poultry, heritage breed pigs, and sheep in our pastures. We utilize intensive grazing practices with multiple species, which lets the animals work with us and the environment to fertilize and improve the soils at our farm. We also work with other local farms and ranches to offer pasture raised beef, raw milk and sustainably raised vegetables to help achieve our goal to bring healthy and wholesome food to our surrounding communities.

About the Farm

Help us bring truly pastured meat, eggs and vegetables to the Houston and Austin Metro area families. Frydek Heritage Farm is looking for a passionate person to help with the logistics to bring farm orders to our customers. Some of these duties are washing, candling and packing eggs, packing pre-orders and working a Farmers Market stand once a week. Other duties would include picking up supplies from the store and delivery of other farm products for our partner farms. We do expect that approximately 20% of the hours worked will be on the farm helping to feed and water the animals.

We need people who are reliable, quick and ready to work each day. An ideal candidate is energetic and ready to get the job done. A successful associate puts safety first and cares deeply about customer expectations and satisfaction.

Note: Most Saturdays will require packing, setting up, selling, and breaking down at a farmers' market.

Responsibilities:

• Drive a truck and a trailer as needed when working markets and picking up products for the farm from our freezer storage.
• Sell farm products at a weekly farmers market.
• Pack customer orders prior to markets and shipping days
• Wash, candle and package pasture raised eggs
• Maintain driving and equipment records
• General cleaning and maintenance of buildings, vehicles and equipment
• Tending to the livestock on the farm

Qualifications and Qualities:

• Ability and stamina to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Punctual and arrives ready to work
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Minimum of 3 years driving experience
• Comfortable driving a Truck (No CDL required)
• Experience pulling a trailer is a plus
• Ability to drive long distances in a fully loaded truck
• Commercial (or work-related) driving experience is a plus
• Great improvising and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Farm work experience is a plus

Sample tasks:

• Meat Pickup. After the animals are butchered, we need to pick up the meat. We work with butchers in Schulenburg and Lexington.
• Order Shipping in Texas. The farm has a goal of increasing sales with shipping throughout Texas via UPS/FedEX. The orders will need to be packed and shipped at the beginning of the week to ensure the orders are received timely by our customers.
• Cold Storage Drop-off/Pick-up. We keep some of our inventory in a cold storage facility that is located just east of downtown Houston.
• Egg Washing and Candling. Each day the eggs are washed, candled and packaged prior to delivering them to our customers at the markets or shipping via UPS.
• Ad-Hoc Deliveries. We are picking up a few wholesale customers, and they typically need deliveries during the week. We also service a broader area for wholesale.
• Farmers Market Sales Associate. The farm’s main sales avenue at this time is through direct marketing to customers in the Houston Metro area. Two days a week would be dedicated to attending a farmers' market in the area to expand our sales base.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
