We are starting an organic farm business that will use regenerative farming practices to grow fruits, vegetables and a selection of meat and poultry products.
 

Our goal is to find a talented individual to help us create a viable enterprise that provides gainful employment to the people that work on the farm, adds to the locally sourced sustainable foods supply chain and nurtures and replenishes the land and the soil for future generations. We have read about the principles laid out by organic farming pioneers like J. I. Rodale and Sir Albert Howard and the many others who’ve followed in their footsteps. And we are excited to learn from and with our farm manager as we build this farm. We are prepared to invest in the business to start and grow the operation.

We are looking for a person who will treat this project like an owner and we wish to share in the positive outcomes of our efforts. We will create a Discretionary Bonus Income Pool to encourage and enable the Farm Manager and other key persons involved in the operations of the farm upon whose judgment, initiative, and efforts the success of the Farm will depend on, to share in such success. This Bonus Income Pool could be a very significant fraction of the overall net income of the farm.

Job description

The individual we are looking for would be responsible for all farming related aspects, including developing distribution channels for the produce we grow. They will be expected to plan and build out the farming operations, initially on a small-scale, help develop the capital infrastructure ((buildings, large systems etc.) required to achieve optimal scale, and plan and build out a distribution network for the produce. We will provide support and advice on the business side (accounting/finance/planning etc.).

Compensation

this position is: salaried, 75k-100k
