  • Date Posted December 13, 2023
  • Location Poulsbo, WA
  • Category Agriculture
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description Hi, we’re the Steege-Jacksons. We live and work on Around the Table Farm, located on 8 acres on ancestral Suquamish land near Poulsbo, Washington. Using draft horse and people power, we grow heirloom vegetables, fruits and flowers and raise chickens for eggs. We use organic practices and are committed to the long-term health of the environment, this land, and the community. Job description

We are looking to add a crew member to our team part time during the winter and full time March-November.

Our farm is small and has a team/family atmosphere. Crew members will participate in all aspects of farm production (ground prep--horse work, seeding, planting, weeding, trellising, harvesting, prep, animal chores, flower production and arranging, CSA packing and delivery) with some opportunity to specialize in particular areas depending on applicant experience.

We are a queer-owned farm and are active in anti-racism work.  BIPOC and queer applicants prioritized. Se habla espanol.

  • We prefer applicants have at least one season of experience on a commercial farm or market garden, or other work that readily translates to an agricultural context. Horse experience a plus, but not required.
  • We are a queer-owned farm and are active in antiracism work.  BIPOC and queer applicants prioritized.

Crew members are expected to:

  • Work efficiently. Farm tasks are diverse and often time sensitive. Crew members are expected to ask clarifying questions as needed, and to strive for efficiency and system improvement. We encourage questions and recognize that there is a learning curve to farming, and to learning our systems! We appreciate direct communication and will be happy to take time to thoroughly explain tasks and work flow.
  • Work body-smart: be mindful of ergonomics and personal fitness and wellbeing
  • Work independently and as a member of the team. We are a small-scale diverse flower and vegetable horse powered family farm. Our daily tasks are diverse, and crew members will often be asked to work independently and need to be self directed and able to work.
