Company description

The Dickinson College Farm, located in south-central Pennsylvania, is a diversified production farm that is fully integrated into the campus life and learning at Dickinson College. As an educational production farm within a liberal arts institution, the Dickinson College Farm manages 80 acres of land that raises food for the campus and local community and serves as a venue for academic studies, classes, and research.  Each year the College Farm raises between 8-10 acres of certified organic vegetables for sale to campus eateries, a robust CSA program, and vibrant producer-only farmers’ market. In addition to raising vegetables, the farm manages 60 acres of pasture for beef and lamb production, maintains a medium-scale composting operation, and integrates renewable energy applications into its operation like solar and biofuels. The staff at the College Farm are made up of college students, full-time managers, and seasonal apprentices. As a team, farm staff work together to grow, sell, educate, and innovate.

Internship description

Dickinson College Farm Six-Month Apprenticeship Positions 

The College Farm offers a unique opportunity to recent graduates interested in embarking upon a six-month learning and working intensive through our Farm Apprenticeship program. These positions are full-time and run from May/June until mid-November. The apprentice positions include a competitive hourly pay plus on-farm housing including amenities.  

At the Dickinson College Farm, Apprentices will gain the skills, experience, and knowledge needed to advance toward leadership roles within the professional arena. In addition to farm-specific training, this experience is applicable to furthering academic studies and employment opportunities related to food, sustainability, and education.
