Job description
This position is in support of the Farm Manager's plans and aspirations for 2024. Our goal is to work quickly and efficiently to provide high quality organic produce for our 300+ member CSA and offsite markets.
We are looking for someone who is experienced, motivated and organized. This person communicates well, thinks critically to solve challenges, and strives to make improvements to our systems/flow. A good sense of humor and flexibility are important qualities
All applicants should have 4+ years experience growing vegetables, a demonstrated ability to organize and lead a team, and be able to commit to a full season of farm work (i.e. bending, kneeling, squatting, carrying 50lb etc). All candidates should have experience operating tractors or other large machinery.
The assistant manager will working alongside the farm manager to organize and motivate the field crew (some experienced, some not) through seeding, harvest, post-harvest, farm market operations, and many other tasks related to organic vegetable production. This position involves tractor work, and while we are willing to train on specialized equipment, all candidates should have experience operating large machinery. Some solo tasks will be delegated from the farm manager, and as such we are seeking someone who's motivated to work as efficiently alone as they would with a team. The assistant manager will be responsible for irrigation maintenance (turning pumps off/on) and greenhouse care on weekends, in a rotation with other senior farmers.
Compensation is based on experience and could include housing for the right person. There is potential to accrue PTO and bonuses/profit sharing!
Working hours fluctuate with weather and seasonal demands, but our average week is 7am-5pm, 5 days/wk, with a 1-hour lunch midday. This position begins February 2024.

Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $35,568.00 - $45,000.00
