The Kinderhook Knitting Mill is a creative & community-minded space in the heart of Kinderhook, NY that brings together food, art, and design in an 1870s textile mill. The ethos of The Mill is one of cooperation and collaboration with the shared goal of cultivating a thriving village center to support & nourish our neighbors throughout the Hudson Valley.
Our all-day cafe, Morningbird, offers a rotating selection of housemade breakfast pastries & casual Southeast Asian dishes for lunch, along with a retail section curated to support local artisans, Asian-American & women-identified makers. Our sister restaurant, The Aviary, offers dinner Wednesday-Saturday with an eclectic menu that highlights produce from our Hudson Valley farm partners.
Job description
We are looking for a barista (experience preferred but not necessary) to prepare and serve hot and cold cafe beverages (espresso, coffee, tea), and to serve our various breakfast and lunch items.
- Greet customers as they enter, prepared to answer questions regarding ingredients etc.
- Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
- Prepare beverages following recipes when necessary
- Serve beverages and prepared food, ie. pastries and various lunch items
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Keep the coffee station clean
- Maintain/restock clean mugs and plates
- Properly maintain stock of disposable cups, containers, napkins, disposable utensils, etc
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Comply with all health and food safety regulations
- Communicate customer feedback to managers
- Help maintain dish washing station

Compensation
