Job description
This is a highly complex position which interfaces across farm, conservation, retail beef, and live animal sales channels. The Farm Manager is a patient land steward, who observes, monitors our ecosystem, and implements strategies for ecological abundance. This position has oversight of pasture management, grazing planning, fencing and infrastructure maintenance, water system maintenance, and all associated responsibilities of the cattle herd management. This includes, but is not limited to, overall health and soundness of the herd, breeding, calving, routine and emergency veterinary care, and a foundation of low stress livestock handling. The Farm Manager will collaborate with the Farm & Conservation Director on executing a Holistic Farm Plan that identifies all of the above components. The Farm Manager will work closely with the Farm & Conervation Director to ensure practices are in place that regenerate our land, create a robust and generational ecologically nourishing landscape through adaptive land management strategies based on observation, data, and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to current certification programs
- Comply with enrolled Conservation Practices through John Marshall Soil and Water Conservation District
- Maintain all record keeping programs
- Maintain equipment and subsequent maintenance schedules
- Oversee cattle sales and harvest scheduling
- Coordinate all animal health and veterinary requirements
- Design and execute grazing program and plan ensuring the team has full comprehension of strategy and goals. Collaborating with Conservation Manager in grazing timing of savannahs, meadows, and/or riparian areas.
- Coordinate hay, seeding, and mowing schedules
- Collaboratively work with the team to execute day to day responsibilities, all the while able to consistently plan for the future
- Coordinate with Conservation Manager for upkeep of riparian areas, ecological restoration projects, future tree plantings, and maintenance of established native warm season grass fields
- Collaborate with Farm & Conservation Director on capital improvements
- Maintain communication with store manager for animal harvest schedules, beef availability, and consumer feedback
- When necessary, collaborate with other teams to assist in larger projects
- Effectively communicate mission, strategy, and goals to the farm team

Qualifications:
- 10+ Years Experience in a cow/calf forage based operation
- 4+ Years in a Managerial or Supervisory Role
- Successful Completion of Understanding Ag’s RegenAg101 online course (can be completed within 60 days after after hiring)
- Track record of comprehension and execution of regenerative agriculture principles and philosophies
- Able to pass a pre-employment background screening
- Experience on an operation of 700+ acres
- Experience with CattleMax, Pasture Maps, and other app based record keeping services
- Able to manage a full and diverse workload
- Ability to skillfully operate heavy equipment
- Experience with fence installation and repair
- Excellent communication skills and leadership capabilities in a dynamic team
- Management skills to develop, lead, and support the employees under your supervision
- Proven excellent administrative and organizational competencies

this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
