Company description
Founded in 2003, Balsam Farms is located on the South Fork of Long Island’s beautiful East End. We started farming with ten rented acres, one tractor, and a small roadside stand. We’ve learned and grown a lot since then, today farming close to 200 acres of vegetables, flowers, fruits, grains and herbs, between the villages of Amagansett and Sagaponack. Embracing heirlooms and perennial favorites alike, we strive to provide a diverse selection of the freshest, highest quality produce grown in a responsible, sustainable manner. Our commitment to growing in accordance with the organic principles set forth by the governing bodies in farming allows us to take care of our soil and our patrons.
We believe knowing and being able to talk to the people that grow our food is one of the best parts about local agriculture, and our outlets allow this to happen. Our open-air farmstand in Amagansett, our retail market in Montauk, our year-round home delivery service, and our wholesale arrangements with local restaurants and businesses form the conduit that connects our fields to our community. The operation of Balsam Farms depends on these points of connection and the incredible people who make them run.
We feel very lucky to farm in such a beautiful place, on some of the most productive land in the world, and we are happy to share our knowledge with everyone who joins our team.
