Job description
Sparrowbush Bakery is looking for a bread baker to assist in our production four days per week. You would have a hand in many aspects of our process, including but not limited to: mixing, shaping, baking, fire making, flour milling, coal raking, oven mopping, bread packing, delivering, firewood splitting and much more. We do everything the hard way, but we think that's the best way—from milling 100% of our own flour from regionally sourced organic grains to burning half a cord per week in our custom built wood-fired bread oven. We bake up to 500 loaves per day four days per week.
This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is interested in taking their bread journey to the next level via high-volume wood-fired bread production alongside a small team of passionate bakers who thrive off doing things the old fashioned way, getting to the core of what makes bread good.
Though experience is preferred, we believe that enthusiasm is the most important trait, and we would be excited to train someone who is ready to step into this role and devote themselves to nurturing their craft. Our ideal minimum commitment would be from May through the end of the year, with training to begin in April.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $16.00 - $24.00
