The Aviary is an upscale restaurant with modern Asian influences located within the Kinderhook Knitting Mill in the Hudson Valley (NY). We work alongside our farm partners in the region to provide seasonally driven food, and as such we feature a constantly evolving menu. Our sister cafe, Morningbird, offers a rotating selection of housemade pastries & casual Southeast Asian dishes for lunch.

The Kinderhook Knitting Mill is a creative & community-minded space in the heart of Kinderhook, NY that brings together food, art, and design in an 1870s textile mill. The ethos of The Mill is one of cooperation and collaboration with the shared goal of cultivating a thriving village center to support & nourish our neighbors throughout the Hudson Valley.

Job description

The Aviary: an upscale, Asian-influenced restaurant in the Hudson Valley is looking for a dynamic, experienced person for our front of house manager.

Salary: 75k+ DOE
Direct Report: Owners

Responsibilities include:
• Manage day-to-day operations of the restaurant/bar
• Meeting & greeting customers & organizing table reservations
• Provide exceptional guest serve, thereby setting the standard for all employees
• Assist in hiring, training, and employee development
• Maintain a positive restaurant culture and have exemplary leadership skills
• Maintaining high standards of quality control, hygiene and health & safety

Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of prior restaurant and front of house management experience, preferably in a fine dining environment
• 5 working days (Wed - Sunday)
• Highly resourceful, creative problem solver, with a desire to learn
• Familiarity with digital POS systems and Reservation system

• Ability to use computer (word docs, spreadsheets, email)
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership & interpersonal skills

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $70,000.00 - $75,000.00
