Our Farm is located 10 minutes from Carmel Valley Village in Monterey County, CA and is looking for hard-working individuals to join our team for the 2024 season. Our farm cultivates a wide variety of crops including vegetables, flowers, fruits, olives, mushrooms and eggs, as well as raises a diversity of livestock and produces value-added products.The farm crew members will report to and work closely with the Assistant Farm Manager and are relied upon to execute a variety of tasks. This position will primarily focus on market garden flower and vegetable production, greenhouse work, and assisting with our soil health program. This position presents a unique opportunity to grow specialized crops for a diverse clientele, including our private chef team, CSA members, and guests/family of the property owner. This role requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a tight-knit team. At the farm, we focus on soil health, biodiversity, and regenerative growing methods and are looking for experienced team members who can contribute to the farm’s long-term sustainability goals. This position requires high-energy individuals with excellent communication skills and the ability to keep up with a busy, diverse schedule. He/she/they must be adaptable, honest, and act with integrity.
The farm’s goals are primarily two fold:
- To produce a large diversity of high-quality, organically grown, clean, nutrient-dense foods and other farm products to meet the ongoing demands of the farm clientele.
- To maintain a beautiful ranch and farm property.
Job description
Duties include:
- Bed preparation, transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, training, and harvesting of crops
- Processing, washing, and packing produce to meet the high standards of our culinary team and customer base
- Assisting with all aspects of greenhouse operations including seeding, filling trays, mixing soil, trellising and pruning vine crops, spraying, watering, and upkeeping our high standards of sanitation in the greenhouse
- Operating a walk behind tractor and other small farm machinery
- Perennial crop care and harvesting
- Pest management and disease monitoring
- Detailed record-keeping of garden plantings, bed turns, and inputs
- Assist with all aspects of cut flower production (and arranging as needed)
- Participating in the maintenance and implementation of our soil health program
- Perform basic farm maintenance and repairs including irrigation and tool repair/sharpening
- Assist in overall ranch upkeep and cleanliness
- Participate in required meetings for a safe and coordinated work environment
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience working in production agriculture
- High school diploma
- Demonstrates a keen interest in regenerative agriculture
- Excellent work ethic and positive attitude
- Attention to detail; able to maintain high quality standards and follow food safety protocols while working quickly and efficiently
- Able and willing to:
- Interact with all levels of guests, management, and staff
- Work independently as well as in a team setting
- Give and receive feedback regularly to encourage a collaborative work environment
- Walk up hilly and steep terrain daily
- Bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods of time
- Follow safety protocols and use hand tools/equipment properly
- Work outside in a variety of extreme weather conditions, including rain, cold, heat, and wind
- Lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds with and/or without assistance
- Follow a regular work schedule of M-F/7:00am – 3:30pm

Compensation
this position is: hourly, varies DOE, $28.00 - $30.00
