Job description
As a farm equipment operator, you will be part of a small team of experienced and dedicated farmers that are responsible with preparing and maintaining over 100 acres of certified organic produce throughout the growing season. We rely heavily on tractors to make this happen, with over 8 different tractors ranging from small cultivating tractors to large 150hp tractors. Being part of the Field Production crew means operating these tractors and implements on a daily basis, with lots of opportunity to work solo or with a small team. Daily tasks may include tillage, cultivation, fertilization, transplanting, general field prep, spraying, row cover care, and running harvesting equipment. The tractor operator works directly under the Farm Manager.
Qualifications:
Tractor operators must have at least 2 seasons of tractor operations under their belt. Ability to operate front end loader safely and efficiently is essential. Familiarity with implements involved in vegetable production is a plus but willing to train the right applicant on all of our different implements. A positive and eager approach to organic farming is key.
Details:
Full time. Work week is typically M-F 7am-5pm but can vary depending on the weather. Our season runs from March to December.
Compensation:
$18-$25/hr and up depending on experience. Health Insurance may be available. Free produce, bread, and eggs. Grocery discount. We have a beautiful farm house available with all of the essential utilities needed.
