Company description
B&S uses a community-driven approach to food & health equity focusing on upstream solutions to food insecurity & health disparities, acting for systems change. Our primary strategy is to destigmatize food insecurity and provide food access in a welcoming community context. We deconstruct the emotional & physical isolation that drives and perpetuates food & health insecurity.
We work at the intersection of food, farms, & health. Produce to the People™ distributes free healthy foods thru client choice farmers markets and home delivery to those with barriers to access. Farmers Alliance™ partners with 75 local farms, thru volunteer service learning, purchases, & produce donations. Rooted In Health™ provides free, weekly evidence-informed education from culinary medicine to yoga, Zumba, & Tai Chi.
Together we connect, share, and celebrate nutritious food, education & community. We believe that food is a human right. Food is love. Food is medicine. Food is justice. We celebrate food as a thread between land & culture. We know our farmers & they know us. We take action to create a regenerative food system that protects the planet. We believe in the power of plants & whole food. We know that knowledge is power and education supports health. We believe that communities know what they want & have the resources to care for each other. We work to create a just & equitable food & health system.
