Sourcing only the best in local and international cheeses and accoutrements, we are also looking for the best people to help us cultivate our customer base!

The Summit Cheese Shoppe is an artisanal cheese and sandwich shop located in downtown Summit, NJ.
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS:
Daily Responsibilities:

Case Care: Maintaining quality of meats/cheeses; creating bountiful displays with carefully wrapped cuts and selling through cheese/meat stock to ensure peak freshness

Maintaining the highest level of food safety and sanitation. Organizing and maintaining meticulously clean cases and countertops.
- Customer Service: Providing above and beyond excellent customer service and cultivating relationships with regular customers.
- Cheese Boards: Create cheese and charcuterie boards as-needed - design specialty boards for holidays
- Training: Train continuing and future assistant mongers on shoppe offerings and educating/engaging customers
- Ordering: Weekly stock check, maintenance and ordering with FIFO in mind.
- Retail: Ensure dry goods are maintained and stocked with FIFO in mind.
- Pricing: Ensure pricing is correctly set based on supplier changes
- Master List: Maintain master stock list and waste list to ensure proper backstop and prevent loss/waste.
- Classes: Plan and teach 2+ cheese-related classes per month (for example, Cheese 101 or Mozzarella Making)
- Events: Plan and coordinate 1+ cheese-related event per month at the Madison Shoppe (for example, beer/wine/chocolate pairings)
- Newsletter: Bi-weekly newsletter highlighting upcoming events, specials, new products, fun cheese facts, etc.
- Social Media: Maintain Instagram including 3x weekly posts and (almost daily) stories.
- E-mail: Monitor e-mail for order and customer questions.
Requirements:
- Full-Time Managerial Position
- Available weekends (Fri-Sun).
- Current Food Handlers Certificate
- 2+ years hands on cheese mongering experience with a minimum of 6+ months in an assistant/managerial position
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for providing excellent customer service!
- A diligent approach to safety and sanitation.
- A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all tasks - especially as manager!
- A self-starter and hard worker. Working knowledge of specialty cheese and meat
- Ability to spend 8+ hours standing
- *This position will require splitting time between our Summit, NJ and Madison, NJ locations.
Compensation Details:
- Pay: Salaried starting at $50,000 per year.
Schedule:
- Days: Tuesday-Sunday
- Must be Available: Weekends & Some Holidays
