Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Scott Farm has been in active cultivation since 1791. The farm was a key location for the filming of the Academy Award-winning movie The Cider House Rules, based on the John Irving novel of the same name.
Scott Farm Orchard & Market is next door to two of The Landmark Trust USA’s properties (Rudyard Kipling’s Naulakha and Kipling’s Carriage House). Two more of our properties (Dutton Farmhouse and The Sugarhouse) are located right on the grounds of Scott Farm.
Today, Scott Farm Orchard grows over 130 certified ecologically grown heirloom and unusual apple varieties. Visitors can pick their own apples or visit the Market to pick up freshly picked fruit, cider donuts, jams, jellies, pies. Scott Farm boasts remarkable and delicious sweet and hard ciders that you can taste onsite, along with farm fresh baked goods, at “Pippin’s Café”. Scott Farm also offers workshops and events, including monthly Crêpe Nights during the Summer and Fall and its annual Heirloom Apple Day on Columbus Day weekend.
Scott Farm is a socially responsible business (Certified B Corporation) and a for-profit subsidiary of The Landmark Trust USA.
Many of Scott Farm’s stunning stone walls were constructed by the expert builders at The Stone Trust, a nonprofit organization whose offices are at Scott Farm and whose mission is to preserve and advance the art and craft of dry stone walling.

How this position supports our company
The Market Manager is responsible for oversight of daily operations of the seasonal Farm Market. They hire and supervise seasonal retail employees and manage all supplies and orders for the Farm Market. They bring a responsible customer service ethic with strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently.
Scott Farm is a commercial orchard specializing in heirloom apples and many other interesting fruits. Its mission is to produce agricultural products for profit, while stewarding natural and historic resources in a manner that reflects the standards and values of its parent company, The Landmark Trust USA Inc., and also contributing to the quality of life in the local community.
The Scott Farm Market Manager position is seasonal, typically mid July to early December.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Oversee hiring and onboarding of seasonal retail staff
- Coordinate staff scheduling of Farm Market and ensure consistent level of operations
- Responsible for all training and compliance requirements related to the Market’s second and fourth class liquor licenses
- Oversee all Farm Market expenses and manage within the bounds of the Market budget
- Oversee product ordering to maintain back stock inventory as well as the ordering of other supplies for display, maintenance and overall good functioning of the market
- Responsible for weekly submitting of all receipts and invoices to the General Manager
- Coordinate receiving of product orders and assure proper restocking of retail display inventory as well as pricing and labeling
- Oversee fresh fruit supply and coordinate inventory with the Orchardist
- Organize, implement, manage data within POS system, Square
- Actively contribute to the Farm Market’s social media presence (Instagram and Facebook).
- Maintain both sanitary and esthetic standards within the Farm Market.
- Ensure high standards of customer care and service are consistently performed by staff
- Responsible for participation in all State retail programs such as Farm to Family coupons
- Weekly report to the General Manager (current expenses, income by product, staffing, etc.)
- Work closely with the Café Manager to coordinate staff hours, bakery and other supplies
- Coordinate Farm Market sales and retail supply of in-house baked goods
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to walk extensively in the course of one day, in and around the Farm Market, up stairs, and around orchard buildings. May also require walking over uneven outdoor terrain.
- Must be able to work on weekends.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
