We are committed to the principles of organic growing and are certified organic by MOFGA. Work will start in August 2024. Training will be provided.

The job includes a range of fieldwork including poultry & duck care, transplanting, small orchard maintenance, harvesting, washing, packing, greenhouse work, delivery, and some events. Employment activities rotate and are seasonal, beginning August and going through December 2025 and possibly into the next spring (approx. 18-20 hrs./wk.). Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and one Saturday/two months. The goal would be to eventually place the majority of daily chores in your hands.

Employment activities rotate and are seasonal, beginning in June and going through December 2025 and possibly into the next spring (approx. 20 hrs./wk.). Tuesday - Friday and one Saturday/month. The goal would be to eventually place the majority of daily chores in your hands.
You will have the opportunity to work on a full spectrum of farm activities:
• Caring for and cleaning Laying hens & ducks
• feeding and watering animals, collecting eggs, cleaning coops
• helping to plan farm events
• spreading compost
• fixing fences
• cutting wood
Learning some small vineyard management
• mixing potting soil and seeding transplants, caring for seedlings
• Setting up an irrigation system
• Preparing beds and transplanting seedlings
• Weeding & Cultivating with hand tools
• Setting up trellises, pruning
•Opening and closing greenhouse
• Harvesting, washing, and packing fruit/vegetables
• delivering produce & flower orders
• Prepping seedling beds
• Cultivation/weeding of beds being managed for vegetables & flowers
• applying organic orchard sprays, harvesting fruits and vegetables
• Participate in on-farm events, including serving tea, giving tours, bringing CSA bags to customers cars, minding the small farm market, making wedding and other bouquets
•Making deliveries of eggs & produce to markets
• General farm and property maintenance
We hope to find someone who is independent, adventurous, detail-oriented, intelligent, friendly, a quick learner, and eager to work hard. Starting with 18-20 hours of work per week which may increase depending upon season and activity;
Strong work ethic, paying attention to details, and being able to work quickly. Must work well with a team, and also be willing to work alone. Must be able to lift at least 50#, heavy lifting is a daily practice. Good physical health with the ability to work long days outdoors during the spring, summer, fall, and winter and to be able to work in cold weather. Needed: Valid driver’s license because you will be making deliveries to markets for which you will be paid your time and the IRS mileage rate. Skills in carpentry, mechanics, and a love of flower arranging a plus. You will work in all kinds of weather conditions including rain, cold, sun, and breezy with partial clouds. A good sense of humor is always appreciated.
Compensation is $18.00/hour to start with the opportunity to earn more with proven experience & reliability & organic produce in season. Farmhand has access to fresh, potable water, organic fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs in season. Must be reliable.
