Diaper and Community Closet Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
The Diaper and Community Closet Coordinator supports FamilyWorks by providing programmatic support to ensure families have access to crucial items such as diapers and children’s clothing. FamilyWorks operates a Community Closet program, located in our Family Resource Center that offers children clothing for families to freely pick out gently used items for their children. FamilyWorks also operates a diaper bank located at our Family Resource Center and Food Bank and a few satellite sites. Their responsibilities include maintaining a well-organized space, inventory management and performing other tasks to support the success of our diaper and community closet program for families in North Seattle.
The Diaper and Community Closet Coordinator will primarily work in the Family Resource Center and occasionally at the Wallingford Food bank and other satellite sites to provide information and to support families according to the Principles of Family Support in all interactions on behalf of the organization. They will report to the Family Resource Center Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

- Help maintain an organized, presentable, and accessible environment for families to access basic needs items (diapers, clothing, etc.)
- Assist with intake of community donations for community closet including receiving, sorting and organizing donated items.
- Work closely with community partners and donors to share program information and host donation drives.
- Enter data which includes welcome forms, survey information, attendance/pick up lists and maintain all paperwork as required by
- Schedule daily and weekly inventory checks on diapers among various locations which includes our Family Resource Center, Food Bank and school-based sites.
- Provide excellent customer service to participants utilizing programs, and to donors and community members dropping off donations.
- Distribute and collect participant surveys who utilize our services and programs.
- Supervise and support individual and groups of volunteers within the family resource center and other locations if needed.
- Work with Family Resource Center staff and families to develop programming based on community needs.
- Attend quarterly trainings, monthly staff meetings, and other meetings as required and to contribute to quarterly program reviews.
- Other tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
- Ability to work effectively within a diverse community of individuals and families; including people who only primarily speak Spanish and/or other English-language learners.
- Commitment to equity and social justice and understanding the effects of system-based inequities on marginalized populations.
- Comfortable working in small spaces and in a team environment; capacity for directing and supporting volunteers.
- Ability to communicate effectively both interpersonally and in written/graphic formats.
- Capable of effectively responding to participant needs and determining appropriate referrals.
- Ability to maintain focus in a complex environment.
- Willingness to proactively seek supervisory input, resources, and information.
- Must have reliable transportation to pick up and transport donations and supplies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
- At least 6 months of customer service experience.
- Previous experience in retail and inventory management preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications, database entry, Zoom, and Microsoft teams.
- Knowledge of infant/children’s items, which include diapers, children’s clothing, and other basic needs items is a plus.

- Works closely with a variety of individuals and families daily, including participants experiencing homelessness, mental illness, and/or disabilities.
- Must be able to complete work sitting at desk or table; moderate lifting / carrying (40 lbs. or less) required.
- Must be capable of the physical exertion required in interactions with young children.
- Ability to work occasional weekend hours.
HOURS AND COMPENSATION
- 20 hours per week—must be available Tuesday through Friday.
- Medical and dental benefits, paid holidays, and accrual of personal leave.
- $22-24/hour
