Kazi Yetu (‘Our Work’ in Swahili) is a women-run social enterprise based in Tanzania and the US. Our vision is to create more jobs for women and income for farmers in Tanzania by manufacturing products locally and linking with international markets. Our first brand is Africa Tea Collection, which is an ethical, all-natural tea brand with a range of black teas, green teas, herbs, and spices, packed in Tanzania.

Internship description

We’re looking for energetic, creative individuals to drive sales for our tea blends. We are looking for Sales Ambassadors to represent Kazi Yetu to help us reach new customers in the area. This individual will work independently sampling products and sharing our mission with new customers in-store and potentially local events/markets. The Sales Ambassador must be outgoing, organized, results-oriented, responsible and passionate about our mission. Bonus if you are a tea lover! In addition, we are seeking someone who enjoys engaging with new people and is persistent.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Customer acquisition: communicate with leads and manage the customer pipeline; 
  • Sample and sell Africa Tea Collection to potential customers, providing tea tastings where required;
  • Interact with grocery buyers and store clerks during store visits (build relationships!);
  • Participate in trade fairs, representing the brand;
  • Identify and pursue strategic partnerships to grow brand visibility;
  • Be an ambassador for our brand and mission;
  • Join monthly calls with Kazi Yetu’s Director + other Brand Ambassadors
 

Qualifications: 16-20 hours / month (Opportunity for additional hours if desired); Flexible scheduling

  • You are based in: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Boston, Chicago, DC, Dallas, Houston. 
  • You have sales/key account management experience, ideally in a similar industry.
  • You are fluent in Google Suite, including Google Sheets.
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit and take initiative. 
  • Experience with promotions/events preferred.
  • You communicate well with daily updates. You also communicate exceptionally with customers.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
