Umaro is building the foundational technology to make seaweed the world's future protein crop. Seaweed can produce five times more protein per acre than soy, and requires no land or fresh water to grow. Getting protein from seaweed provides protection against climate-caused food insecurity.
Shifting our protein crops from land to sea will allow us to return cropland back to nature, rewilding and storing carbon while expanding natural habitats.
Our first product is a meaty, crispy and delicious plant based bacon, which launched in Whole Foods earlier this year.
Job description
We are looking for a passionate and outgoing Culinary Demo Specialist to conduct product tastings/demos in grocery retailers throughout the Bay Area. The ultimate goal of this role is to introduce new customers to our product and drive retail sales.
Job details will include:
- Set up and breakdown of demo work station
- Prepare and execute product tastings and demonstrations

Respond courteously and knowledgeably to guest inquiries regarding: product details, best cooking practices, company mission, recipe ideas and nutrition.

Listens actively and asks questions to understand guests’ needs and preferences; recommends product use ideas.
Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous retail and/or restaurant experience

Knowledge of and passion for plant based food

Outstanding communication and relationship-building skills

Outgoing personality and ability to sell
You will need your own mode of transportation to and from demo sites. You will be reimbursed for transportation time and gas usage.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
