Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be a motivated culinary professional with a deep love for food and cooking, eager to contribute to our reputation for outstanding cuisine. To be successful in this role, the applicant should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation regulations and guidelines. Applicants should also be able to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
*Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation, plating and quality control, ensuring adherence to our rigorous standards for taste, presentation and consistency.
*Team Leadership: Support and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging skill development and professional growth.
*Inventory and Ordering: Manage inventory levels, place orders and ensure the efficient use of ingredients to minimize waste while maintaining high-quality standards.
*Hygiene and Safety: Ensure compliance with health, safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
*Event Execution: Contribute to the successful execution of high-profile events and functions, ensuring that all dishes are prepared and presented to perfection.
*Assist in Menu Development: Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to design and create innovative and luxurious menu items that reflect our brand s high standards and culinary vision.
These duties are some examples of the scope of the sous chef position. This is not the limit to the duties and we would love to have an independent problem-solver in this position.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-end restaurant or catering environment in a sous chef position, with a solid background in fine dining and event catering.
Skills: Proven expertise in culinary techniques (INCLUDING KNIFE SKILLS), with a strong ability to create visually stunning and delicious dishes. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills are essential.
Passion: Demonstrated passion for food and cooking, with a genuine enthusiasm for experimenting with new ingredients and techniques.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards for quality and presentation.
Enthusiasm for Learning: Eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced, innovative culinary environment, with a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
Education: Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred, but not required with substantial relevant experience.
