Job description
As a Cook/Chef's Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting in the preparation and execution of meals for our meal prep delivery service. Your culinary expertise, attention to detail, and dedication to maintaining a hygienic and organized kitchen environment will contribute significantly to our customers' satisfaction and business success.
Requirements:
Basic cooking abilities - efficient knife skills and a general understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen equipment. Experience as a cook, line cook, or kitchen assistant is preferred, but not necessary.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices. *must have a food handlers license or plan to be certified before starting.
Ability to follow recipes and prepare meals with consistent quality.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends, as required. Typically Sunday-Tuesday, with more days available as we continue to grow.
A passion for cooking and eating delicious food!
Preferred Qualifications:
Culinary degree or relevant certification from a culinary school is a plus.
Experience in meal prep, catering, or similar food service operations is an advantage.
Knowledge of dietary preferences and restrictions (e.g., vegan, gluten-free) is also beneficial.
Responsibilities:
Assist the in meal preparation, cooking, and presentation according to our recipes and quality standards.
- Measure and portion ingredients accurately to ensure consistency in taste.
- Help maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Collaborate with the team to develop new menu items and refine existing recipes.
- Follow all safety protocols and demonstrate awareness of potential hazards in the kitchen.
- Adapt to changing priorities and assist in various kitchen tasks as needed.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
