Job description
ABOUT THE ROLE
DUG is seeking a full-time Volunteer Coordinator who is passionate about creating spaces of community impact around food forests, gardening, community-building, sustainability, food justice, and climate action.
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for creating and sustaining a robust volunteer network for all the programs at DUG. This involves coordination of volunteer/corporate workdays throughout the year and administrative support for DUG community gardens as well as managing volunteer requests for DUG programs and events. The balance of responsibilities ebb and flow throughout the year, primarily dictated by the gardening season and other DUG
program needs.
This position reports to the Director of Partnerships
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
● Volunteer Coordination (50%)
○ Recruit and onboard community-based volunteers for events, programs, and tasks
○ Connect volunteers to opportunities that match their skills and interests
○ Communicate volunteer activity details and logistics to volunteers, staff, and partners
● Corporate Workday Coordination (30%)
○ Coordinate workday volunteer events for corporate partner and sponsor groups for team building paid opportunities
○ Provide logistical and on-site support for corporate workdays and special events with more than 10 volunteers (e.g., check in, snacks, swag, instructions)
○ Occasionally take lead role for volunteer workdays
○ Follow up to engage with corporate groups to dig deeper with DUG including support for volunteer matching programs
● Volunteer Administrative Duties (20%)
○ Manage the DUG Volunteer Portal on Galaxy Digital
○ Train Garden Leaders on the Galaxy Digital platform so they can plan their own volunteer events
○ Maintain database of volunteer information and skills
○ Track volunteer hours for reporting
○ Responsible for follow up for all events and activities with thank yous, photos, and future opportunities for involvement with the organization
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
