We are conveniently located adjacent to the commuter rail and near the center of activity of our small, beautiful town. CCF stewards over 150 acres of land throughout Lincoln and Concord and resides on an 18-acre home farm with historic barns, greenhouses, community garden plots, pastures, and a thriving flower and market garden. CCF is an independent non-profit focused on growing its sustainable farming programs and educating the public about food production.
Job description
We seek a dedicated and passionate Greenhouse and Flower Grower to join our market garden team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture, with experience growing various flowers and plants in a greenhouse environment. This individual will play a vital role in seeding, growing, and maintaining our vegetable and flower transplants for our two-acre market garden and U-pick flower garden. In addition, the position will be responsible for overseeing production in our 60’ heated greenhouse and maintaining our small flower garden, which includes daily maintenance, harvesting, and the creation of beautiful mixed bouquets for retail sales.
Reports to: Market Garden Manager
Daily Responsibilities:
Greenhouse: 30%
- Planting and Transplanting: Seed, prick out, and transplant flowers promptly and efficiently according to our detailed crop plans, with a high attention to detail and organization.
- Plant Care and Maintenance: Daily care for plants, ensuring optimal growing conditions through daily monitoring, proper watering, pruning, fertilizing and pest management while maintaining a clean and orderly greenhouse space.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of seedings and transplantings
Flowers: 50%
Flower Garden Oversight:
- Coordinate planting and daily oversight of our u-pick flower garden, including weeding, providing support nets/trellises, watering, and deadheading as needed.
- Harvesting and Bouquets: Manage the daily harvesting of flowers from our flower garden,, including creating and preparing bouquets for retail sales, ensuring high-quality presentation and consistent supply for our retail store.
Market Garden Support: 10%
- Assist, as needed, the Market Garden Manager and staff in all aspects of managing the low tillage vegetable market garden
Education: 10%
- In collaboration with the education manager, assist in any educational, volunteer, or event-related programs or activities involving the flower garden, including educating the public on the farm's sustainable growing practices, unique flower varieties, and the benefits of locally grown flowers.
- Engage with our community to foster understanding and value of supporting local agriculture.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in floral design or creating visually appealing flower arrangements for display and market sales
- Strong understanding of and skillset in cut flower production
- 1-year experience in farm-grown cut flowers
- 1-year experience in greenhouse production
- Positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and take direction
- Excellent verbal communication skills and follow-through
- Creative problem-solving skills
- The ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly is required
- Ability to pass a CORI check due to work with children and volunteers.
Work Schedule:
- Seasonal full-time position from April - October
- Five days per week, 8 hours per day.

- Hourly pay, depending on experience, $20hr+
