Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Center for an Agricultural Economy (CAE) seeks an Enterprise Director to lead and support the enterprises of CAE to ensure alignment across operations. In 2024, CAE transported over $12.5 million dollars in local food from farm to market with Farm Connex, processed over 185,000 pounds of local produce through Just Cut, and supported 20 food businesses processing in our incubator kitchens at the Vermont Food Venture Center. This role involves translating strategic goals into actionable operational plans and optimizing financial, and infrastructure resources to maximize program impact. The Enterprise Director will use metrics and evaluation systems to monitor program performance to inform decision-making focused on long-term enterprise growth. Collaborating with the Executive Director and other program leaders, this role will help guide organizational earned revenue goals, facilities planning, and financial strategy development. Additionally, they provide guidance and problem-solving for emergent operational issues, fostering resilient and impactful food hub enterprises.
JOB DETAILS
Position: Enterprise Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Schedule: 40 hours a week, full time
Compensation: Salary range of $80,000- $85,000 a year, exempt

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
Entrepreneurial mindset/experience
Experience working in a nonprofit environment
5 years of experience supervising others and building teams
Financial acumen in revenue projections, budget management, income and expense management
Experience designing, implementing, and managing performance metrics and data systems to evaluate program impacts, preferably within enterprise operations or a food systems context
Strong technical skills with computers, spreadsheets, emails, and digital business management tools including G-suite, Excel, Slack, Asana, customer relationship management (CRM) software
Knowledge of Vermont food systems, local economies
