Jordan's Farm is a fifth generation farm located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. We are a conventional grower that cultivates approximately 60 acres of mixed vegetables each season. Our primary market is an onsite farmstand. In addition, we sell wholesale and continually seek ways to expand our markets. This season, we are expanding our pick-your-own strawberry operation. We strive to reduce food loss on our farm by working with organizations to end hunger in Maine.
Job description
Jordan’s Farm is seeking an individual to join our team as Floor Ambassador for our farmstand.
Our farmstand is open daily from the end of April through Thanksgiving and is stocked with produce directly from our fields and from over 15 farm partners. In addition to produce, we sell local meats, dairy, eggs, pantry goods, wine and beer, baked goods and other curated local groceries and seedlings.
The Floor Ambassador position is a full-time year-round position starting in early April. This employee must be willing to work weekends. Hours may vary occasionally based on season.
The Floor Ambassador is responsible for (and should take pride in) managing day-to-day display and retail operations for a high-volume farm stand. This position requires a person who excels at multitasking and has great attention to detail. Primary responsibilities include keeping the storefront well stocked, clean, organized, and running smoothly. The Floor Ambassador will work with the Farm Stand Lead to direct the cashiers and stockers and will fill in where needed to keep up with the flow of customers. Additionally, this position will manage incoming deliveries and keep inventory stocked and organized in the storefront, the retail coolers, and other spaces. The Floor Ambassador will assist with display creation, pricing and signage, packing vegetables, cleaning, and customer service. Because of the rapidly changing nature of the farm stand, the ideal candidate should be able to quickly switch gears, ask for help and have a willingness to provide and receive constructive feedback.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in customer service; positively engage with customers and answer inquiries about products and how they are used
- Run our Clover POS system; accurately total and collect payments and administer customer programs such as our CSA, Snap/EBT, Farm Fresh Rewards, Gift Cards
- Keep vegetable displays beautiful and abundantly stocked and maintain quality throughout the day
- Maintain a clean, tidy store space; front and adjust grocery displays and clean retail areas as needed
- Accept and quality check incoming deliveries, restock store and organize and count inventory in all storage areas (dry grocery, retail coolers, freezers)
- Monitor expiration dates of products and quality of vegetables in backstock and inform Farm Stand Lead of short-dated items
- Work closely with the Wash/Pack Lead to ensure a consistent supply of vegetables to the farm stand
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to create appealing, abundant, seasonal, and ever-changing displays; carry out display contingency plans
- Ensure there is accurate signage and pricing for all products on floor; work with Farm Stand Lead to ensure all in-stock items are properly entered into POS and available for purchase
- Communicate closely with other managers to solve problems and stay up to date on what’s happening on the farm
Qualifications:
- Passion for local food and agriculture
- Experience working with produce in a grocery setting
- Top-notch customer service skills
- Understanding of marketing strategy and strong visual merchandising
- Consistent attention to detail
- Willingness and ability to coach others
- Diligent approach to safety and sanitation
- Confidence in math and recordkeeping skills
- Able to regularly lift loads of 50 lbs. and work under challenging ergonomic conditions, including crouching, bending and kneeling
- Must be flexible with the schedule and work weekends and some holidays
- Great oral and written communication skills
- Thrives in a team environment
- Valid Driver's License required in order to move produce between on-site coolers with the farm van
Additional qualifications (not required, but a plus!):
- Experience with inventory management
- Experience leading a team
- Familiarity with FSMA/GAP guidelines
- Experience working with Clover POS system
Compensation & Benefits:
- $19-21 depending on experience

- PTO is accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked
