Company description
Farm Aid is a non-profit whose mission is to cultivate a vibrant and just family farm-centered system of agriculture in the United States. Farm Aid catalyzes and offers creative ways to champion farmers, inspire civic engagement and leverage our cultural placement to influence positive change in our agricultural and cultural landscape. Farm Aid artists and board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Margo Price host an annual food and farm festival to raise funds to support Farm Aid’s year-round work.
Since 1985, through the generosity of the artists who contribute their performances each year, Farm Aid has raised more than $78 million to support our programs that help farmers thrive, grow the Good Food Movement, take action to change the dominant system of industrial agriculture and promote food from family farms.
Job description
Farm Aid is seeking an experienced culinary professional to oversee all food-related operations for its annual festival and other events throughout the year. The Culinary Manager will ensure that all food served by Farm Aid aligns with our HOMEGROWN criteria: food that is sourced from family farmers who utilize ecological practices and are paid a fair price, and served on compostables. We are looking for a hospitality professional with experience in procurement, menu development, volunteer coordination, and greening efforts to promote sustainability and ecological practices within corporate systems.
This is an exciting moment for Farm Aid’s HOMEGROWN food. Through robust partnerships with Live Nation, Legends Hospitality, and artists, we are proving that food can be both delicious and a revolutionary force for climate resilience. Music festivals and tours are uniquely positioned to transform the system from the inside out, while inspiring eaters and fans to be active partners in this systemic change. HOMEGROWN Food has been served at the annual Farm Aid festival since 2007. We are now replicating this model on artist tours, during entire seasons at specific venues, and as pop-ups at other aligned events. There are a lot of opportunities and possible directions, and this role will work closely with Farm Aid’s business & marketing director to craft the strategy and implementation of this vision for HOMEGROWN food.
This is a contract position. Contractors will invoice for their work - the cadence of which will be discussed and whatever is decided will be part of a written contract agreement that both parties will sign. The total project is estimated to be about 650-675 hours for the year.
