Established in 2013, Garden Fort grows primarily salad greens across 3+ acres, including a half acre of high tunnels, using minimal tillage/no-till and regenerative methods. We market our greens through the Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor area working directly with various retailers, chefs, and aggregators.
Job description
At Garden Fort we are focused on growing primarily salad greens which gives us a relatively consistent work schedule and task list each week. This allows for quick adoption and ownership of weekly tasks for each crew member with a clear vision of how it benefits the whole.
Tasks range from bed prep, to seeding and/or transplanting, to harvest, to washing and packaging the final product for retailers, chefs, and aggregators.
Farming experience is a plus, but we would be willing to train an individual with a long term interest in market farming who displays the appropriate skills and sensibilities.
This is a physical job amidst the elements which requires alertness, attention to detail, and a good attitude.
Pay starts at $18/hr for the first 60 days. If all benchmarks are achieved pay will be $20/hr for remainder of the season. Must be available 4-5 days a week (~35 hrs) April thru November. Part time work may be available throughout the winter.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $15-20/hr
