Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented General Manager and Lead Shopkeeper to join our fun and hardworking team. This person will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and driving growth in our deli and specialty food store. The ideal candidate should have a passion for good food, possess strong communication skills, have good attention to detail and be able to multitask effectively.
Duties Include:
- Creating and maintaining a welcoming and friendly environment for guests and staff and sharing food knowledge in an accessible way (i.e. offering tastings, etc.).
- Guiding product selection and merchandizing of all food - both retail and prepared foods - in the shop. Ordering all food and supplies. Monitoring store sales and constantly improving categories and offerings.
- Pricing items appropriately and reviewing margins in collaboration with our in-house bookkeeper
- Creating promotions, packages, etc to get people excited about our food and to help sell it. Engaging with and educating guests about the product and ethos of F&L, with the aim of increasing sales, getting customers excited about new foods, and fostering repeat business.
- Staffing, scheduling, training store employee(s).
- Maintaining an exceptional standard of organization and cleanliness in the storefront and behind the counter.
- Ensuring all food safety and sanitation guidelines are strictly followed. Maintaining all equipment in the shop to a high standard including slicer, refrigeration etc with support from other relevant staff
- Running Instagram account (with support from owners) to promote what we’re doing each week. Creating weekly menu and updating website and weekly marketing emails.
- Keeping the deli case, fridge, retail shelves fully stocked and looking fresh and bountiful at all times. Organizing deli case to promote sales of items we want to highlight.
- Creating product info tags and keeping them up to date, ensuring all packaged prepared foods are accurately labeled, updating the scale and POS menus with correct product details, prices, PLUs etc. Keeping chalkboards up to date and looking fun and nice.
- Working with culinary team to adjust and adapt as necessary to maximize food sales, minimize waste.
- Packaging prepared foods, other responsibilities as needed and necessary.
- Assist in selling and coordinating catering opportunities, with the goal of expanding further into private events and off-site catering. At times, may need to staff off-site events.
- Continually building on what F&L is doing and guiding the shop forward, working to expand customer base and increase revenue.
This job is full time, likely in-house Tues through Sat, with some possible flexibility.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
